Lesson Goal
오늘의 목표는 difference, first impression, empathy를 중심으로 인물이 낯선 환경에 들어갈 때 어떤 감정을 느끼는지 설명하는 것입니다.
1. Before Reading
- What makes a new school scary?
- When do people judge someone too quickly?
- How can a classmate make a new student feel safer?
2. Key Vocabulary

3. Chapter Guide
이 구간은 한 아이가 새로운 사람들과 만나는 장면을 중심으로 읽습니다. 중요한 것은 사건보다 시선입니다. 누가 누구를 바라보는가, 그 시선이 어떤 감정을 만드는가를 따라가면 이야기가 더 잘 보입니다.
학생은 다음 세 가지를 표시하며 읽습니다.
- 인물이 불편함을 느끼는 순간
- 주변 사람이 친절하게 행동하는 순간
- 내가 같은 상황이라면 다르게 행동하고 싶은 순간
4. Listen & Shadow
오디오는 원문 낭독이 아니라 학습용 해설과 쉐도잉 문장으로 제작합니다.
Shadowing sentences:
- I feel nervous when people stare at me.
- A kind classmate can make school feel safer.
- First impressions are not always fair.
- Courage means walking in, even when I am afraid.
- Empathy starts when I ask, “How does this person feel?”
5. Check Understanding
- Why might a new student feel nervous?
- What is one kind action a classmate can take?
- What is the difference between looking and staring?
6. Think in English
Use these sentence starters.

7. Writing Prompt
Write 5-7 sentences.
Imagine a new student enters your class. What can you do during the first day to make that student feel welcome?
